The crossguard is made with carbon steel (construction steel). I generally avoid soldering, but to get some of the shapes I have to make them in separate parts and solder them, either normally or with a brass solder. The crossguard is installed on the pivot using a historical method, without soldering or glue. Keep in mind that a 45 degree crossguard (like in the silver swords) does not provide protection for the hand. If you want a sword for actual training, I’d suggest steel swords, they are the most close to historical usefull swords.
